Orange, CA, June 18. 2013 – American roots-rock duo William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up continues to thrill and engage web audiences everywhere with their innovative and socially conscious video music series called Live at the Ice House.
A brand new web episode titled, “The Power of Word,” debuts today on http://liveicehouse.com and continues to cast the show’s spotlight on variety of creative visionaries, musicians and poets using their art as an instrument for social change.
Filmed during a poignant night of poetry and music that William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up hosted at their Orange County creative studio, The Ice House, this episode features several talented artists using the power of spoken word to influence our society and address major issues impacting our global community. The night of poetry and music was filmed as part of the duo’s ongoing involvement with 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a global movement involving legions of poets, musicians, songwriters, and other artists from around the U.S. and across the world that use their art to promote serious social awareness and political change. Over 750 events in 115 countries have been involved with the organization.
Live at the Ice House Episode 3: The Power of Word features compelling readings by Renaissance Man David “Judah 1” Oliver, who also owns the art gallery Machine Pomona, located in Pomona CA’s lively art district, along with Besskepp (aka Cory Cofer), a quick-witted-beatnik60’s-hiphop80’s poet raised on Langston Hughes and Public Enemy. The night also had readings by poets such as Greg Barraza and Paul Mabon. Interview segments are hosted by Travis Keller from Buddyhead. Musical selections for this new episode were provided by L.A. blues musician Johnny Moezzi and capped off with special performance of “Eastside Tacoma” by William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up. The song will be among those featured on the duo’s forthcoming sophomore release that is set to follow last year’s acclaimed debut, The Great Recession, on Moonlight Graham Records.
“This is a special episode of Live at the Ice House and we were very privileged to welcome a group of very talented and socially conscious poets,” says PM Romero. “Viewers will enjoy seeing poets like Judah 1 tackle socio-political and racial issues with an animated grace as well as the mesmerizing hip hop-meets-verse styling of Besskepp. Live at the Ice House is a must-see for anyone that enjoys good music and verse, but we also hope to plant a seed of inspiration and enlighten audiences about a range of important social issues that lie just outside our doorsteps. There are many critical issues, like teen homelessness, that we hope to continue to explore in our own poignant way throughout future episodes of this series.”
