Now, normally our interviews are with local NYC artists and music business veterans; this works out pretty well for us (and you, the viewers and readers) because New York City is teeming with people involved in the music industry. This is also somewhat restrictive, though, as there are so many more accomplished and talented individuals who live outside of New York, and we obviously can’t arrange for an in-person interview. Thankfully, long-distance communication has been modernized, and a New Yorker and Californian can live-chat easily. This works out fantastically for us; next week we will be interviewing musician, businessman, and West Coast native, Adam Small, via Google Hangout.
Adam Small has been professionally involved with the music industry for twenty years. He began his career as a bassist in New York City, playing, recording, and touring with several great artists like Larry Goldings and Bernie Worrell. In addition to playing live music, Small also composed music scores for television, including MTV’s “The Real World” and “True Life”. In 2002, he delved into the business side of the industry, and spent much time becoming well versed in music licensing and music publishing. His music consulting and management company, Adam Small Music, offers personalized “real-world” knowledge to up-and-coming artists and musicians. Because Small and his team are all professional musicians themselves, they genuinely care for their clients, and offer many services to help them further their careers. In addition to helping clients navigate through publishing and licensing deals, Adam Small Music also creates effective social media marketing and branding strategies in order to maximize their client’s exposure in the competitive music industry.
Adam also runs MyMusicMasterclass.com, a website offering over 2500 pages of educational resources to musicians trying to become successful professionals. There are literally hundreds of videos, articles, software and instrument tutorials, and live performances available for viewers to sift through. Adam and his team at My Music Masterclass Inc. also film and produce their own Premium Masterclass Videos with top industry artists who know the important steps musicians need to take in order to flourish in the industry. Adam Small’s dedication to music, as both an art and a business, makes him an excellent person to talk to.
We can’t thank Jessica Sherman at Promenade Entertainment enough for giving us the opportunity to make this interview happen! Thank you Jessica, and everyone at Promenade Entertainment- you rock!
